Neil Gaiman Reading Challenge 2012

Welcome to the Neil Gaiman Reading Challenge 2012 and the first challenge I’ve hosted.

I have been a huge Neil Gaiman fan since 2006 when my friend who “doesn’t read” gave me a copy of American Gods to occupy my time on a rainy weekend. I finished it that day. I always come back to his works and am always delighted to “rediscover” them because somehow I forget how wonderfully weird they are.

This is going to be a really low-key challenge. There aren’t even that many rules. But there are SOME rules because, well, there always are.

Rules:
1. You can sign up any time (using Mr. Linky) but the challenge goes from Jan 1, 2012 – Dec 31, 2012. Anything started prior to Jan 1, doesn’t count. In the post on your blog, include what level you chose.

2. Ebooks and Audiobooks count and novels, short stories and/or comics also count.

3. Review what you read and you MUST link up to the REVIEW POST (I’m lazy and don’t want to hunt down the post on your blog) I’ll do a post once a month linking reviews.

3a. Starting Jan. 1, there will be a link in the sidebar for this challenge for you to link up your reviews.

4. The levels apply to whatever you pick. Mix and match if you want.

5. Have fun!!

Levels
Watching the Mouse Circus – Read 1-3 works
Peeking Under the Troll Bridge Read 4-7 works
More Focused Than The Bedlam Read 8-12 works
Taking on the Devil Read 12+ works

EDIT: Since I can only use one Mr. Linky at a time, I'm going to use the one for linking reviews. (See the reviews link in the sidebar.) If you'd still like to join the challenge, you can, just sign up in the comments section.
Thanks, and happy reading,
Jenn

  1. I signed up - I'm taking on the devil! I've read most of his stuff already, but am working through Sandman, and always love to re-read him. I like your challenge idea, and it will make me be more diligent in my reviewing, too. :-)

  6. @Ziggyeor That's up to you. When it comes to short story compilations like Smoke and Mirrors, Fragile Things, M Is For Magic, etc you can count them as either short stories or a book/novel.

Look for more updates in December!!

  8. I shall be taking on the devil. Why aim low? The question is, can I still write book reviews? I haven't tried in some considerable time...

  10. Alright, I'm all signed up! This is so exciting, I've never participated in a reading challenge before, but this is perfect because I really want to get to know his work. I can't wait until it's next year so I can start! Reading is fun!

  11. I was kind of planning for a Gaiman-centric year, so this will add a sense of accomplishment, too!

  14. I want to sign up for this but I can't get the Mr Linky to work. I can only see the lists of the ones already signed up and a message to the blog owner to upgrade to show more than one Mr Linky ... Anyways, signing up!
