The Graveyard Book Read Along Master Post

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
Published by HarperCollins; 2008
320 pages

This July I am hosting a read along of The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, since we had such fun reading American Gods. (There will be a read along of Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman in August). Anyone can join at any time. The schedule will follow the same Monday Discussion Questions/Tuesday Reaction post format, but I am open to readers contributing discussion questions. All I ask is that they be emailed to me by 7pm EST, Sunday night. (jenniferlladd (at) gmail (dot) com) Below you will find the details about The Graveyard Book and the read along schedule.

Happy reading!!

Jenn

The Graveyard Book synopsis via Goodreads: After the grisly murder of his entire family, a toddler wanders into a graveyard where the ghosts and other supernatural residents agree to raise him as one of their own.

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead. There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack—who has already killed Bod's family . . .

Beloved master storyteller Neil Gaiman returns with a luminous new novel for the audience that embraced his New York Times bestselling modern classic Coraline. Magical, terrifying, and filled with breathtaking adventures, The Graveyard Book is sure to enthrall readers of all ages.

  1. Ooo how exciting! I'm looking forward to trying out Gaiman's children fiction. I have Coraline out of the library still but it's due soon and I don't know if I'll get to read it before I bring it back. I'm the WORST about borrowing library books and never getting to read them.

    1. Coraline is really good. The book is quite different from the movie (if you've seen it). But both are wonderful separately. The movie scares the crap out of me if I watch it at night.

    2. I suggest listening to the audiobook for Coraline. It's read by Neil and it's FANTASTIC!

  2. I just might be joining this! I've yet to read anything by Gaiman but I've had my eye on Coraline for a while now. We'll see how busy my reading schedule is in July. This book does sound really good though!
