The Graveyard Book Final Post
This is the final post for The Graveyard Book read along, covering the final two chapters.
I really liked that we got to see Scarlett again before the end of the book since she was Bod's only human friend. However, I was very annoyed that her mother didn't seem to pay that much attention to her and that Scarlett was rather careless. (Never get into a car with strangers, people. Never). It was kind of sad, I mean, Scarlett's parents got divorced and she now lives with her mom, but her mom is never around. It's awful.
Oh Stabby Jack. He's still completely evil, but kind of a genius. I don't remember if Jack had seen Scarlett and Bod together or if that was just a lucky coincidence on his part. Or perhaps he was trying to get back into the swing of his former glory. He's such a creeper and I'm glad that he got what was coming to him. I love Miss Lupescu. She was such a wonderful character even if she wasn't the most outwardly friendly. I was really touched by her final part in everything and what Silas said about her bravery.
I understand that Bod's time in the graveyard had come to an end, especially since he was starting to no longer see it's inhabitants. His goodbye to Mr and Mrs Owens had me really choked up. At the same time, I think Bod was really unprepared for the world. He had no formal education, hardly any experience with the living, and no prospects. What is he going to do? Where is he going to live? How could he possibly survive? I did like that Silas gave him a good start in life, but part of me wished that Silas would have gone with him and taught him how to live in the real world like he had in the graveyard. I hope that Bod does go to San Fransisco, perhaps it will bring back memories of Silas and the graveyard.
