Sunday Update #8

General update: It has been quite the couple of weeks since I last updated. I had a bought of the flu which made life no fun for a few days. I mostly read and watched Halloween movies. The last few days have been my mom and I getting prepared for the hurricane that is going to hit the north east either this weekend or early next week. They're saying it's going to collide with another storm and create a massive nor'easter. We're expecting wind, rain and possibly some snow. We've stocked up on candles, flashlights, cereal and crackers just in case.

I also made sure that I have a fully charged ereader and a stack of paperbacks just in case.

Book update: Since it's officially fall and cold weather has set in, I've decided that nothing beats curling up on the couch in a pair of fuzzy socks on my days off. In last two weeks I have finished the following books:

Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice
Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving
The Evolution by Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (I actually read half before giving up and calling DNF)

I just have to read one and a half more books to complete my September TBR (plus I also read two books that were not part of the original list).

Blog update: In the last two weeks I posted the following reviews:
The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer
Harry Potter books 1-4 mini reviews
A Hollow Dream of Summer's End by Andrew Van Wey
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Blink Once by Cylin Busby
Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel
The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

I've also posted:
Coraline Read Along post 1
October Question from the Classics Club

Finally, the above postcard of the cute little duckies was sent to me from Minsk, Belarus by a fellow postcrosser named Natasha.

I hope you all have a great week and those of you in the path of the storm, stay safe!!

  1. The weather SUCKS now with this storm approaching. It's been all misty and rainy here for days... I'm kind of far inland though for NY, so I have no clue if the storm is actually going to get to my area or not... Though part of me is actually hoping it does hit us kind of bad, so I have an excuse to stay home and wait it out :)

You are a reading fool! Looks like you've read a lot. I'm hoping to get 1 more book read off my October TBR, not sure if it's going to happen though. I've read most of my list though, so yay!

Those ducks are ADORABLE. Hope you're doing well Jenn! Have a good week :)

    1. We didn't lost power but internet and cell service were spotty. We got wind and rain mostly and that will last til tomorrow. We just had a brief thunderstorm which was weird. I hope you've made it through okay!!

I am a reading fool, I know. I am glad you made it through most of your list!

  2. The flu sucks! Glad you're feeling better. :) And storms are SCARY! At least you're prepared!

I'm leery about trying Maggie Stiefvater ... her books seem to be hit and miss for a lot of people.

    Enjoy your week!

    1. I skipped her Werewolf series because I'm not really into the genre, and with Raven Boys it was an interesting plot but it just seemed to drag. So I'm in the miss category for sure.
